We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our clients a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As a token of our appreciation we have put together a little dance:
What have we done? Well that’s exactly what our manager said!
We visited the Elf Yourself Web site and after uploading our pictures we had our ready made elf dance.
We then used screen capture software to capture the dance and created a movie file which we uploaded to You Tube.
Why not try this for yourselves and send it to your clients!
After a few months’ preparation and development, we are pleased to announce that the website of one of Swansea’s Top Hotels - the Dragon Hotel has now gone live. The new site offers a clean, smart image for one of Swansea’s top hotels and showcases the hotel’s main areas - accommodation, eating at the dragon, health and leisure and weddings - very well. The site was created using a content management system and allows staff at the hotel the ability to add/modify and delete content from any computer, using a secure username and password. Over the next month or so the site will add more offers and allow people to subscribe to their newsletter.
Our relationship with the Dragon Hotel started when one of their team came on our eMarketing Award. Over the last couple of months we have provided project management support to them, which has included help with site structure, specification, content, SEO and liaising with their web developer. We will be offering ongoing Internet Marketing support to the hotel in the coming months and wish them every success with their new website.
Readers of our blog articles will know that we always enjoy showcasing our clients’ sites. Well, here’s another one to add to that portfolio - Swansea Events. Roughly about 3 weeks’ ago two members of the Swansea Council Tourism department came on one of our Business Blogging days to learn how to build a blog in a day. We showed them how to design, create posts and even create added functionality through Widgets.
We were very pleased to hear this week that they had kept up the momentum of that day and have since re-designed the blog, adding new functionality and brand new blog articles. The objective of the site is to highlight events which go on in Swansea over the course of the year. It looks like they are already meeting that objective and we wish Liz and Paul all the best with their blogging endeavours in the future.
On the 29th November we will be running our second eMarketing course of the month and we will also be Welcoming the 100th person to attend the eMarketing Award course. The Emcoe project was initially designed to create 50 eMarketing professionals in the Swansea area. Not only have we achieved that goal but we are now delivering a project in Neath Port Talbot and bringing in clients from companies and councils around Wales and even further afield. Recent courses have seen staff from the Welsh Assembly, Cardiff University, WDA Techniums, 5 Welsh Councils, Swansea University and even Microsoft attend our 4-day courses.
The Autumn has also seen the launch of two new courses: Business Blogging and Google AdWords. We had so much interest in the latter that we had to add a new day (and that is almost over-subscribed!). Our popular Google Day has been well received and we are keen to increase the frequency of all 3 in the New Year. We’d like to say thanks to all our clients who have attended the course and hope that you’re now implementing the tips and tools you learnt.
Towards the end of the August we completed some consultancy work for one of Wales’ Top Golf Courses, Fairwood Park. The club has had a web presence for a number of years and in the Summer, having had discussions with ourselves, decided that they would like to improve to create a better visitor experience. The aim was to film all 18 holes so that visitors could get an idea of what the golf course was actually like.
Two of our team encamped to Fairwood Golf Course with digital video cameras in hand on one warm, summer’s day and spent the entire day filming all 18 holes. Once back in the office they then edited the footage, adding commentary from Fairwood Park’s golf professional and images that we captured from Google Earth. The idea of the latter was to create a moving, aerial view of fairways and greens.
All 18 videos are hosted on YouTube and embedded on their website.
Take a look at the Fairwood Park Video Guide and please let us know what you think of the end result.
And for all those folks who say we never give them anything, here’s a Free £30 Google AdWords Voucher (courtesy of Google!). And, not being ones to miss an advertising opportunity, we’d like to say that if you want to find out how to use this voucher effectively, why don’t you take a look at the Google AdWords workshops that we’re running this Autumn?
This year, the final adjudication was carried out by an independent judge, David Atkinson. He is an experienced travel writer with credits that include the Lonely Planet Wales guidebook. As part of the selection process he actually visited the Call of the Wild offices in Seven Sisters.
Emcoe staff have worked with Call of the Wild on a few marketing projects. Our most recent work with them involved us filming, editing and uploading a video on to YouTube of a team building day that they organised for Llanelli Scarlets. Even one of our Ospreys’ supporters had a great day out! Take a look at the video below.
The goal of pretty much all the clients that we work for is to achieve great listings on Google. Some of the other applications that Google has introduced are also finding a lot of interest amongst our clients - Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Reader and YouTube, to name but a few. If you’d like to get a better idea of what the founders of Google have to say about its power, employees and Search, take a look at the video below.
The Swansea Bay Woman of the Year Awards Ceremony presents a unique opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women throughout the Swansea Bay area.
This year’s Swansea Bay Woman of the Year Awards will be hosted by the BBC’s Sara Edwards on the 30th November at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea. The guest speaker will be Jenny Eclair, the comedian who starred in the TV series Grumpy Old Women and holder of the prestigious Perrier Comedy Award.
The categories being judged are: Business Achievement, Young Entrepreneur, Community Achievement and new categories for 2007 are the Technology Achievement and Management Achievement Awards. This year the organisers have received a record amount of applications - 90 in total across the 5 categories. Sarah Toomey, one of the organisers of the event said:
“The level of interest we have received this year has been fantastic and as organisers we have been amazed by the high quality of nominations. This is going to make the job of the judges an extremely tough one.”
Though the closing date for applications has closed, you can still buy tickets either by downloading a word booking form (.doc) or giving Sarah Toomey a call on 01792 545066.
