The eMarketing Centre of Excellence is the very first of its kind in Wales (probably in the UK) and has already started to turn out the Principality’s first eMarketing Champions. It forms part of the Swansea Bay IT Support Centre (SBITSC), a local IT support organisation.

Back in 2004 the Centre delivered a series of evening workshops to over 70 SME’s. The success of these workshops prompted SBITSC to look at ways of developing a centre which would offer Internet Marketing courses to businesses, large and small in the Swansea area. The result of these efforts was the eMarketing Centre of Excellence or EMCOE, as it is commonly called. It was originally funded through European Objective 1 money and a matching contribution coming from the City and County of Swansea. A similar bid was put in for the Neath Port Talbot area and this scheme, on completion in June 2008, will create 25 eMarketing champions.

CIM Accredited CentreThe original Swansea scheme has now achieved its goal of creating 50 eMarketing professionals, drawn from SME´s in the Swansea area, over 2 years. EMCOE is in the privileged position of being an Accredited Chartered Institute of Marketing Centre, and can therefore offer clients a recognised eMarketing qualification – the eMarketing Award – once they have successfully completed the course.

EMCOE has actually grown, and exceeded, its original remit and now delivers the eMarketing Award course to organisations and businesses from as far afield as Pembrokeshire, North Wales, Mid Wales, Cardiff, Bristol and Reading. In addition, the Centre also delivers a range of Internet Marketing courses, including Google Day, Corporate Blogging, Google AdWords and Search Engine Marketing - we are currently looking to get CIM accreditation for all our courses.

The Centre is run by a team of Internet Marketing professionals, with an excellent balance of strategic and tactical knowledge. Between them they have over 20 years’ experience of Strategic and Internet Marketing and have a proven track record of delivering successful online solutions to a broad range of organisations, from to SME’s and multinationals to education establishments and public sector organisations.
